Soulmate

We often get stuck on the idea of finding The One. We look for the 'missing piece of our puzzle' in all romantic relationships and seek someone to fill our flaws. Honestly, in my opinion, our souls are not flawed. We as humans can or can't do certain things others can, as per our skills and brain power. That doesn't make them our shortcomings. It just means we are made in a certain unique way. What we look for is an attraction, a companionship or a financially beneficial partnership. The concept of soul mate itself is against the idea of spirituality. Spirituality says we are complete as spirits. In that case, we don't need others to complete us. What we need is various people in different stages of our lives to satisfy our needs of the mind and body. It is on a materialistic level. And this learning and unlearning goes on through not only one, but all relationships of our life, be it with parents, relatives, friends or someone special. If you believe in the concept of rebirth, it suggests that when we meet people in strange ways and hit it off instantly, or some people stay in our lives longer than others despite our differences, it is because our souls recognise theirs from previous lives. The same souls are entwined in their journey time and again. But in that case, the concept of soul mates is not limited to one person or one relationship. There can be multiple such people in your life who can change it for the better. And your spouse or love interest may or may not be one of them. The "right" people can make less impact on your personal growth than the "wrong" lessons. It all depends on our perspective. We put too much expectation on one connection or the idea of love with a person when the truth is, multiple people are impacting our lives out there, and our soul is complete in itself, and it simply doesn't need a mate like your mind or body does. Hence, the idea of soul searching and self-love comes, because you need to realise you are not flawed to love yourself endlessly first before you can be capable of loving another person and accepting what you assume as their shortcomings.
