Pole Star

You are perhaps a shooting star  Flying across the night sky,  One treats you as an ill omen,  While others wish on hope. You have long gone,  Just visible as an illusion to the eyes,  You were always a falling star,  I mistook you for my pole star instead. ~ Suranya

Shore

Image
The wind still blows past my water, Whispering undeciphered words to me. Perhaps all that we could never say. The waves still crash on my shore Reminding me of memories we shared, In the strongest of storms. The hope we thrive on, the "what-ifs" that haunt us, The sky witnesses our story Unsaid, not unheard. A love lost in silence yet immortal The Land and Sea smile at each other. ~ Suranya

Gift

Image
He rises above all, to reach out to her But her touch he could never feel; Her vastness was beyond his reach. So he bowed to her instead, Submitting to her might And send a few clouds instead. The Mountain knew How to impress the Sky As she poured her love In showers of pearl drops. ~ Suranya

Vermillion

Image
The sand on the Shores hid treasures of shells, Under His skin, like a man with secrets. In the distance, the setting sun shone,  In the vast sky, like a man in love, Spreading scarlet hues across the world. The rays kissed the Sea, turning the waves blush red. With a pinch of vermilion, the Sky painted the Sea He made Her a reflection of Him, From dusk to dawn, day to night, the Sea saw Herself Coloured in His tone, just the way He liked it. The Sky made the Sea easily His, While She tried all Her life in vain to Meet the Shores. ~ Suranya

Only If...

Image
If you were the Sunflower, stuck to your roots, Wishing to soar high, not afraid to lose. If I were the Sun, carefree and ignorant, I do what I do, never noticing you. Then one day, I stopped on my path; it was half past noon What if I chanced upon you, almost like a boon? Would I have held on or let you go? Knowing that your death resides in us, not life? For you would have seen how I burn, every moment Every day, giving hope and light, like a candle burning itself Perhaps you would understand why we weren't meant to be Maybe we were the story that never should be. If I were the Sunflower, stuck to my roots, You are my sun, miles away in pursuit. I follow you around from dawn to dusk, Knowing that you perhaps don't notice me Doesn't make me regret it much. I care not for a story to tell, nor for a perfect ending I pray My love for you is not to impress, But I will keep trying till you acknowledge.  ~ Suranya

Promises?

Image
"Do you remember our vows? Promises and words exchanged? Do you know that before you, holding on and letting go Never felt the same? Remember how sometimes, tired of your silence, I wished to retreat back? To leave you barren and never come back?" Her turmoil, waves of questions, cracked into his silence Once again, wanting to be loved. Lost in time, he stood alone, home to a desert gypsy girl who waits For the dreams of feeling the sea, the one she had never seen The Desert sand smiled sadly at her simple dream, For he remembered what it once felt like, To be loved by the sea. ~ Suranya
