Message in a Bottle

 Standing on the shore, arms stretched,
To the sky, deep blue, and endless,

She wished upon the universe,

To bring some news of the beloved.

Far across the ocean,

Where the horizon met the sky,

He had set sail on a windy day,

Leaving her with hopes to survive.

Questions shrouded her mind.

About the uncertainties of the future.

Hearts often drift apart,

Distances cause rifts.

Out of sight, and out of mind,

Often leads to hearts that bleed.

She sat every day on the shore,

Awaiting news or a return.

Each day her heart broke piece by piece,

As hope faded like the setting sun.

But it so happened one day,

Where the waves came crashing on the shore,

Something shone in the light of the sun.

She ran to it in eagerness.

And found a bottle afloat.

Transparent and tightly sealed

A note inside read: "If Destiny does get this to you,

Let Fate guide me to you."
