In Search of Prince Charming

You were probably three when you opened the pages of the first colourful book. The prince on a white horse, purple robe and a gold crown, was being watched in secret by the Damsel in distress, waiting to be saved. Fairy tales introduced you to a totally different world, taught you not to trust easily, and that there were bad people in the world, amidst near and dear ones, or worse, in the disguise of good. There were wars fought. Battles won. Love and truth won in the end. Always. And they lived happily ever after. But in your twenties, you wondered. What was it that made the fairy tales so interesting? The brave prince? The beautiful down to earth princess? The evil queens? The happily ever after? No. It was all the struggle, the journey, the lessons in the story. That made them what they were. Characters grew from experience. It was not the last line, but the hope and how they reach their dreams that made the journey worth reading. So, everyone who asks if there can be a fairytale or...
