I know not what falling in love means.
Don't get me wrong, I have been in love!
(More times than I had hoped to.)
But I have only seen this in movies
Or read them in love stories;
That one heart skipping moment,
A conversation or gesture
That makes someone "Fall in love".
The experience is alien to me
For I don't intend to fall
Into whatever love is.
I am not impressed by stares,
Or a flattering gesture.
Nuances of emotions are subtle.
They come not with force for me.
Love to me is made of
Little boring everyday things
A song you share, an inside joke
A sunset or silence.
The defining moment of
Falling in love never occurred to me.
No rose petals or dances
Could sway my heart
More than honesty does.
Hence, I don't intend to fall in love.
For such a love is fleeting and magical
Momentary and meant for novels.
I want to be in love,
Live it every day.
The kind where you look at someone
Going through their mundane chores
Vulnerability and flaws
Yet you thank heavens for them
Every single day.
