Maybe Not

 Remember those rains?

When you're drenched in love, 

Quenched your desires in each other's smile.

Remember those summer afternoons, 

When the ice lollies felt like heaven.

Remember those sunsets you shared?

Or the number of songs you dedicated?

Remember that feeling you called forever?

That ended in a fleeting moment?

That relationship you named love?

But didn't know how it felt?

Perhaps termed it a mistake.

Laughed at it over a few drinks?

And moved on to yet another one.

Same places. Same memories.

Remember that smile that reached the eyes?

The silences that spoke a thousand words.

Maybe not.

 I find myself in unfamiliar surroundings, Wander alone through the complex roads, That intertwines like two snakes fighting for survival And I chance upon a stranger. The sunlight reflects on his face. Blurring my view of his features. “ Is this the State of Mind? ” I ask. “ What are you looking for? ” He smiled. “ Peace. ” I show him the address. He shakes his head, amused. “ It’s a difficult road ahead, you would need more… ” “ More of what? ” “ Thick Skin, Carefreeness and a lot of self-love. ” “ Then? ” I ask, intrigued. “ Then you will perhaps find a glimpse of it some day.
